Ce jeudi 11 mars 2021, le chef de la diplomatie américaine, Anthony Blinken, au cours de son intervention devant le comité des Affaires étrangères de la chambre des représentants des USA, s’est engagé à veiller à l’organisation d’élections justes et équitables en Haïti.

D’après les informations disponibles, un grand nombre de politiciens américains se questionnent sur les dernières actions, “traitées d’autoritaires et anti-démocratiques” du président Jovenel Moïse. Surtout à l’approche des élections.
Afin d’enlever les doutes face à cette situation préoccupante, le chef de la diplomatie américaine se dit prêt à veiller sur l’organisation des élections en Haïti pour qu’elles soient justes et équitables. “Nous avons besoin de voir que les Haïtiens, avec le soutien de la communauté internationale, organisent véritablement des élections libres et équitables cette année. Sur le papier, au moins, les élections législatives et présidentielle sont prévues entre septembre et novembre. Nous mettrons le focus afin de voir comment elles peuvent être effectivement libres et équitables. C’est quelque chose sur laquelle nous veillons activement”, a-t-il déclaré.
Entre autres, il a également partagé ses préoccupations et déploré le fait que le pays soit dirigé par décret. C’est pourquoi, M. Blinken a recommandé aux autorités haïtiennes de limiter le nombre de décret pour des fonctions essentielles.
